FITNESS COACH I ENGINEER of awesome
Fitness has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I was an active child, preferring a swing set over video games, and began individual and team sports in my elementary school years. My greatest athletic passion has been for running which I discovered in junior high.
I developed an interest in other forms of fitness such as pilates, yoga and rock climbing, while also realizing how much I love the outdoors. That realization led me to lean more into activities like hiking and trail running which are still favorites of mine.
In 2013 I began martial arts, participating in Krav Maga, Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing. To increase my strength and cardiovascular health, I also increased my running. In 2013 I was persuaded to try my first obstacle course race. Terrified, I tried a Super Spartan. I was a bit overwhelmed at first, however, by the time I jumped the fire at the finish line, I was hooked! I participated very frequently in obstacle races for the next few years, often running the first competitive heat and then running the race again later in the day with a group of friends just for more fun. My proudest achievements were a second place finish in the New England Rugged Maniac and competing in the Spartan World Championships at Killington Mountain in the Spartan Beast.
My time obstacle racing helped me hone in on what I enjoyed the most in terms of fitness: trail running. I developed an interest in longer races and in year's time, I ran my first trail half marathon, marathon and ultra marathon of 50 miles.
I spent the next few years transitioning through multiple job changes only to find myself incredibly stressed and overworked, burnt out and unmotivated. I experienced health scares that resulted in the diagnosis of multiple chronic illnesses.
I was ultimately very tired and sick.
I trusted my instincts and forged a new career path in health and fitness. I wanted to come back to what made me healthy, strong and happy. Now I get to share that with you!
